RAT ANGLE / Support

RAT ANGLE support

An angle instrument for the iPhone Duo hinge.

For help, email ping@ratdept.com.

Include your iPhone model, iOS version, app version, whether Demo is enabled, and what happened. A screenshot can help; share only information you want support to receive.

Get measuring

  1. Open RAT ANGLE on a supported iPhone Duo running iOS 27.1 or later.
  2. Read the hinge angle in Absolute mode, or tap Zero to compare movement from the current angle in Relative mode.
  3. Choose a target, including a custom value. Tap Hold to freeze the reading and Resume to continue measuring.
Why does the app offer Demo?

Live hinge readings require supported hardware and iOS 27.1 or later. Other compatible iPhones can use Demo to explore the interface and Rat Run with simulated readings. Demo is clearly labeled. It does not measure your device’s physical angle.

What does the number measure?

The number is the device’s hinge angle, or its difference from your Zero reference in Relative mode. It is not a gravity-based level. The 1° and 0.1° settings change display resolution, not sensor accuracy. A case or the way the phone touches an object can change how its hinge relates to that object’s angle.

Why are Zero and mode changes disabled?

Hold freezes the displayed measurement and locks its mode and reference. Tap Resume before changing those controls. The physical hinge can still control Rat Run while a gauge reading is held.

How do I set a custom target?

Under Target angle, tap Custom, enter a value from −180° to 180° with up to one decimal place, then confirm it. Negative targets are useful in Relative mode. Off removes the target guide.

How do I keep a reading?

Open the small rat menu at the top left and choose Measurement tag. Tap Share tag to export the image or choose Save to Files in the system share sheet. The tag is a fixed snapshot with its angle, reference, date and time zone. Demo and held readings are labeled. RAT ANGLE does not maintain a tag history.

How does Rat Run work?

Open the rat menu, choose Rat Run, then Play. Fold or unfold to match the Target and hold steady until the bridge levels. The rat crosses automatically. Complete five bridges; Again starts a fresh course. Demo uses a slider. Exit game returns to your gauge reading and calibration.

Why is the screen always dark?

Pure black, warm white and mustard are the instrument’s fixed palette. There is no light-mode setting. The app respects Reduce Motion for its decorative and game animation.

Does it show both physical screens at once?

The app uses the display that the system currently makes active. Its layout changes for closed, partly open and fully open use; it does not switch on the inner and outer displays simultaneously.

What if the reading disappears?

Resume the app and check that you are using a supported device and OS. A missing live sample is shown as unavailable; the app retains a number only when you explicitly used Hold. Switching Demo on or off clears Hold and calibration so simulated values cannot carry into live measurements.
